STIMULATE for Librarians and Information Professionals

Last year, I was very blessed to have the opportunity to became a part of the international training program on information sponsored by the Belgian government (VLIR-UOS), VUB, KUL and UA in Brussels, Belgium from May-July 2009. The program was called Scientific and Technological Information Management for Universities and Libraries: an Active Training Environment edition 9. There were about 19 participants during this program from the continents of Asia and Africa. Three came from the Philippines: Joseph Yap (ACTMalaria, now DLSU-Taft), Stephen Alayon (SEAFDEC, Iloilo) and Nhyrma Fe Cab (St. Joseph Institute of Technology, Butuan City). The program enriched our knowledge as we delved into the four components of the training program: management in libraries and information centers, information and communication technology, information retrieval and searching and information architecture and digital libraries.

All participants benefited from this international training program in the form of new learning, gaining new friends and colleagues/library networking and advanced knowledge to be utilized for our respective libraries and information centers. This was a magnificent experience that a scholar in the heart of Europe that one will never forget and will cherish for the rest of our lives.

The 10th edition deadline is until February 1 (I have previously posted this information since last year in my Facebook account). For more information visit: http://www.vub.ac.be/BIBLIO/itp/stimulate10/stimulate10-announcement.htm
